Containerdienst Hämmerle was founded with the objective of developing combined “rail–road” transportation in the Vorarlberg region in order to shift the transportation of goods to rail as far as possible.

In order to achieve this objective, a flexible terminal was constructed in cooperation with Rail Cargo Austria to handle all containers / swap bodies and semi-trailers approved for transportation. Containerdienst Hämmerle has been operating the container terminal in Bludenz, Austria since 1981.

Containerdienst Hämmerle organises the entire front end and back end for railway transportation – this combines the speed and economy of railway transportation with the flexibility of road haulage.
